Fintern Program
About the Program
The Fintern Program connects top university students interested in fintech and insurtech with internships at local startups. Through this program, interns have the opportunity to work full-time for ten weeks at one of Cincinnati’s many local fintech startups. In addition to gaining real work experience in a fast-paced startup environment, interns can build connections across the entrepreneurial community by attending programming hosted by FinTech Frontier.
FinTech Frontier’s corporate partners fully support these paid positions at no expense to startups.

Customer Acquisition Manager
This role will work with Pay Theory’s customer acquisition team to help us get better at identifying, researching, reaching out to, nurturing, closing, and strengthening our better identify, research, reach out to, nurture, close, and strengthen our customer and merchant relationships. Pay Theory’s customer waterfall starts with SaaS platforms, includes their merchants, as well as the payers to those merchants. Scaling the engine that acquires those customers and builds on those relationships is critical to our mid and long run success.
Planned Projects Include:
- Top of the Funnel content identification, development, distribution, metrics measurement, and optimization intended to drive interest among our customer target(s).
- Comprehensive customer research to strengthen and document our embedded finance use case understanding. This work will be used to drive product development.
- Sales Development Rep that improves how and what we learn systematically about Tier 1 and 2 Target Platform Accounts strengthening Pay Theory’s ability to successfully reach out and open doors to conversations with those accounts.

Operations Intern
Help manage customer success of agents and policy holders. Run analysis on case management efficiency. Aid in ways to automate processes.

- Analysis – Identify strengths and weaknesses of current processes.
- Development – work with teams to automate processes
- Documentation – Verify and document appropriate processes

Strategy Associate
Work directly with the CEO in implementing and developing an evolving strategy for a ever changing market
Planned Projects Include:
Strategic Collaboration with CEO: Contribute to the development and implementation of business strategies in direct collaboration with the CEO, influencing high-level decision-making in a dynamic market.
Active Role in Strategy Development: Participate in shaping and executing evolving business strategies, bringing fresh perspectives and fostering adaptive thinking in response to market changes.
Market Analysis and Strategic Insights: Engage in in-depth market research and analysis to provide critical insights that inform strategic decisions, emphasizing your role in navigating the ever-changing business landscape.

Operations Intern
We embed simplicity, security, and speed into payments so you can take care of your business. As an Operations Intern at Tesouro, you will collaborate with cross-functional and external teams to streamline business processes. Areas of focus include Financial Operations, Revenue Operations, Customer Support, and business processes documentation.
Planned Projects Include:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to track internal projects, ensuring timely completion and precise communication.
Assist with day-to-day financial operations such as forecasting, modeling, and Accounts Payable operations.
Help develop, enhance, and maintain Tesouro’s Customer Support workflows.

Software Quality Engineering Intern
Create tests to ensure the quality and stability of DirecFunds software. Assist senior engineers in adding features to DirecFunds platform. Contribute new ideas to the payments landscape.
Planned Projects Include:
Unit Test creation in c# (nunit / xunit) leveraging GitHub CoPilot to accelerate code coverage.
Selenium test creation for verifying front end quality in support of a full Continuous Delivery pipeline.
Leveraging CI/CD tooling to visualize the state and quality of the code base as well as contribute to the decisions on deployment.

Operations Intern
As an operations intern at Neural Payments you’ll work with the onboarding team to managing clients through the implementation process, you’ll work with the client support team to answer client questions and troubleshoot issues, you’ll work with the operations team to assist in driving the companies strategic priorities forward.

Business Development Intern
The Business Development Intern at Narval will work directly with Greg, co-founder & CEO, on business development support and marketing. This role provides a unique opportunity to delve into the web3 space, driving Narval’s value proposition and thought leadership in the industry.
Planned Projects Inlude:
- Craft a viral marketing campaign to boost Narval’s visibility in the web3 community.
- Design a social media engagement plan to increase brand awareness and customer interaction.
- Develop a series of web3 market insights reports to position Narval as an industry expert.

Social Marketing Intern
The intern will work closely with the founder to execute on the social & marketing strategy, in order to clearly articulate our value proposition and differentiating positioning, and appear as thought leaders in the web3 space.

- Launch a social media challenge to drive user-generated content and foster community engagement.
- Curate a weekly live webinar series featuring web3 thought leaders to grow Narval’s audience.
- Implement an influencer partnership program to amplify Narval’s reach within the web3 niche.

Data Analyst Intern
The Data Analyst Intern at Coterie Insurance will curate and report on crucial data, analyze trends for actionable insights, and contribute significantly to the data lake strategy. This role is crucial for enhancing analytical frameworks and supporting the company’s data-driven decision-making processes.

Sales & Marketing Intern
We are seeking two enthusiastic and driven Sales & Marketing Interns to join the Payload team at our Blue Ash-based office. This position is ideal for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in the fields of sales and marketing. The selected candidate will work closely with our sales and marketing teams to support our campaigns, contribute to our marketing strategies, and assist in the creation of sales materials.

Jr Systems Engineer
This position will work with the Product and Engineering team at Pay Theory to continue to build out our platform. In the Summer of ‘24 we will be focused on expanding our embedded finance capabilities as well as improving how platforms interact with Pay Theory.

- Building onto our core AI/ML based fraud detection and transaction monitoring.

Katie is a student from Cincinnati State College, where she pursued a degree in Computer Software Engineering. Katie joined Pay Theory as a Product Research Intern.
Grace was a rising senior at Pennsylvania State University studying advertising and fine art. At AKRU, Grace was responsible for the organization’s content creation and social media marketing efforts, while assisting with the startup’s transition to an entirely new brand.
Senna was a rising senior at the University of Cincinnati studying Finance and Business Analytics. As a Strategy Analyst, Senna worked with Venture Capital firms and Real Estate owners to bring on as strategic partners, as well as implement infrastructure to support the future growth of the company.
Rashon was a rising senior at Central State University studying Mass Communication with a focus on broadcast media. He joined the Coterie team as the Customer Advocate Intern, where Rashon worked to raise awareness and educate potential customers on Coterie’s unique insurance platform.
Griffin is a recent graduate of Xavier University, where he majored in Marketing. As a marketing intern at Neural Payments, Griffin assisted the organization with their customer onboarding, preparing user adoption strategies and white labeled marketing assets for their growing list of financial institution clients.
Sebastian recently graduated from Shawnee State University, with a Bachelors in Digital Simulation and Game Engineering Technology. Sebastian worked with Neural Payments as a software engineer, and, following his internship, was brought on to be a full team member.
Adewopo Victor Adewale
Victor pursued a Doctorate in Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati. He joined the Pay Theory team as a Data Science intern, where he was responsible for maximizing value of company data through collection, interpretation and analysis.
Joshua was a rising junior at the University of Cincinnati, studying Entrepreneurship with minors in Economics and Management. Working as the Marketing Development Intern at WiPROSPER, Joshua was responsible for analyzing industry trends, identifying funding opportunities, and social content creation and management.
